Get to know me

Hi, I’m Laurie. I consider myself an adventuring spirit—not a live-in-my-van adventurer, but definitely a weekend road warrior. I’m all about beach days and wine tasting, camping in the woods with a good steak, or heading to the Cascade lakes for paddle boarding.

After graduating from college, I took what I like to call my “Round the World” Oregon solo trip; exploring the coast, the Cascade lakes, the desert and lava lands, and back up through the Gorge. I loved every moment of it.

Travel has always been part of my story. I spent my youth camping, boating, skiing, quading, rafting, ziplining, and road-tripping to places like Yosemite, Mammoth, and Lake Powell. One of my most unforgettable memories was visiting the Grand Canyon with my dad, mom and sister when we were young.

We arrived the night before, not fully realizing how dramatically the landscape had changed from the bright lights of Las Vegas to the rusty reds of the canyon. Before dawn, my dad woke us up, wrapped us in blankets, and took us out to watch the sunrise. We sat quietly as the darkness softened into dawn - stars fading, deep blues turning to silhouettes, and then suddenly the canyon revealed itself. Rich reds and golden light met the purples and pinks of the morning sky. It was absolutely awe-inspiring.

After college, I expanded my travels to Italy, and yes, I have a Pinterest board full of must-do destinations. I consider myself adventurous and outdoorsy, but not necessarily a jump-out-of-a-plane or live-without-electricity full-time kind of girl. I enjoy camping, bathing regularly, and fine dining. I love going into town for a fancy lunch, then rafting down a river, photographing sweeping landscapes, and ending the day with s’mores in a tent with my husband.

Now that I’m married, I spend a lot of my free time planning our next trip. It’s truly a hobby—I'm a Type A planner, so it comes naturally. I usually set a goal to plan a few trips each year. We love traveling with friends on our annual camping trips, many of them filled with steaks, paddle boarding, and stargazing at Rock Creek Campground. Some of our fondest memories are waking up somewhere new before dawn to watch the sunrise—just like the morning I showed my native Oregonian husband Crater Lake for the very first time.

As my friend group grows and our families expand, I’ve found myself curating trips for girlfriends, family members, and kids—each with different needs, timelines, activity levels, and preferences. I love discovering new places and finding creative ways to make the trip happen.

As the main travel planner in my own family, I wanted to make travel easier—not just for myself, but for like-minded families who want to explore a destination, map a path, and get out and go.

Corners and Cobblestones was born from my love of travel and has grown into a true passion project. My hope is that it inspires your family to travel, reconnect with friends, and explore new places.

I hope it inspires you to raft down a river, see somewhere new, eat great food, and enjoy life.

Soak it in—slowly, gleefully—and create new memories for you and yours.
